7SR 011 - The 7S Collective Vol 2

Seventh Sign is proud to present its latest release. Where 7SR 010 gave you the class of Carl Finlow, this time we present three tracks by three “new” artists from our roster on this.  “7S Collective Vol 2” follows on from the first “Collective” project (7SR 007), which featured Hutton Drive (Domenic Cappello), Automaton and the first proper release from a certain Mr Alex Smoke. As with the previous collection, this serves as a sampler of material from artists due to release their own records on Seventh Sign.

On the A we have “Bellisimore”, a techno groover by Holland’s finest upcoming female artist and DJ - Estroe. Bridging jacking house and deep melodic techno, Estroe creates a beautiful piece for the world’s cooler dance floors. Estroe started producing in 2003; her debut on Less is More recordings was released in January 2005 and she followed this with further releases that year. In 2006, Estroe has been working on her live set and productions, which has involved work with the Eevo Lute label and Vince Watson’s Bio label as well as remixes (on Magnetron Music, due this year). Here she delivers her brilliant introductory work on Seventh Sign – “Bellisimore”. Estroe’s future release on Seventh Sign will feature a special remix by a very special artist, to be revealed! We would like to welcome Esther to Seventh Sign.

On the flip, the Machinists bring us “Jerk It” – a modern techno workout, expertly crafted. Kicking off like an experimental composition, “Jerk It” soon morphs into the funkiest of jack tracks. The man behind this debut project, Hugh McMahon, has fabulous creative spirit backed up with real technical know how and we think it shows in this twisted bit of music. This is his first solo release and a fine debut, we think.

Last but by no means least is the only artist to feature on both Seventh Sign “Collective” records - Automaton.  By day he’s a BBC soundman but by night he turns into experimental musician extraordinaire! He is here with “Dubtron”. The title kind of speaks for itself as this dub excursion marries cutting edge electronica with some real reggae flavour. Lee Perry meets Warp Records uptown!
