7SR 014 - Soul Confusion EP
First up we have the menacing "System Logoff", a powerhouse of a piece. Tough and insistent
drums and a pulsing bass underpin shimmering pads that keep rising and slipping out of this well
constructed, stylish gem. "Confusion" steps up next with something from the Random Noise
Generation school of audio force! A pumping Detroit infused techno moment with a booming
bassline and a building riff which all meld into a host of crescendos and dramatic moments. For
the second half the EP moves in a slightly deeper direction, beginning with the appropriately titled
"Deep Thought Pt.1”, which pulls in some calmer moods but is still underpinned by a solid
backbeat. Closing proceedings is "Soul Deeper"; offering up a lovely layered hook that would be
effective in both deep house and techno sets.
